An author, researcher, professor, motivational speaker, and professional singer, Grant became the 11th Country Director of Peace Corps/Mongolia in July 2012. The recipient of numerous teaching awards and other accolades, she was awarded 2006 Social Worker of the Year by the 145,000 member National Association of Social Workers, Washing, D.C., and received the 2007 Rosa Parks Award from the American Association for Affirmative Action. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
