I Think Upon the Fearful Day (Помышляю День Страшный комп. Архангельский )

Pomishlyalu Den' Strashniy Music by A. Arkhangelsky Slavic Chorale Pavel Kravchuk, Conductor "I think upon that fearful day, and I weep at all my evil deeds. How shall I answer the Eternal King? And with what boldness will I look upon the Judge? I am the prodigal... Merciful Father, Only-Begotten Son, Holy Spirit, have mercy on me." The composer sets the climax of the composition on the text, "with what boldness will I look upon the Judge?" And after the loud, fortissimo cutoff, the speaker quietly says, "I am the prodigal..." or more literally, "I am lost." The only hope for a person that sees their true, sinful self, is the mercy of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and that is the quiet prayer that ends this composition. - - - - - - - - - - - - - Slavic Chorale is a volunteer choir of singers from Northern California.
