Santy Anno (26/317)
Another beautiful soldier song set in the Mexican war in the mid-nineteenth century. Our soldier contemplates leaving everything he loves to pursue "Santy Anno" (Mexican General Antonio López de Santa Anna) for America. Santy Anno is illustrated with beautiful lithographs of Daniel Powers Whiting's drawings of scenes from the Mexican-American War. The Library of Congress provided such high resolution scans (over 200mb each) that we get to examine them in great detail over the course of the short song. 1.
