The Real Treasure Is Not Balsam but Jesus! Lord, You are more precious than silver. Lord, You are more costly than gold. Lord, You are more beautiful than diamonds. Eran explains the newly discovered history of a substance more valuable than gold to the ancients. The ultimate aphrodisiac… The substance is not new but it’s published history in Israel is. Roman historian Tacitus describing Judea says "that in all its productions it equals Italy, besides possessing the palm and the balsam." (Hist. 5:6) The far-famed tree excited the attention of successive invaders. By the time Roman General Pompey, it was exhibited in the streets of Rome as one of the spoils of the newly conquered province in 65 BC. During the invasion of General Titus, two battles took place at the balsam groves of Jericho, the last being to prevent the Jews in their despair from destroying the trees. Then they became public property, and were placed under the protection of an imperial guard; but the two plantations were destroyed by the rebelling Jews.
