Originally written as a set of twelve piano pieces, Enrique Granados' Danzas Españolas (Spanish Dances) was greatly admired because of their new and distinct depiction of folk characteristics of many different regions of Spain. The dances are often referred to only by their descriptive titles. Three movements were later on orchestrated by J. Lamote de Grignon, director of the Orquestra Sinfonica de Barcelona.
