Italy - A Home in the Making – Two Years Restoring a Farm
Jul 27, 2025 Two years ago, we bought a 200-year-old farm in the hills of northern Italy. With no renovation experience, a tight budget, and a deep respect for the history of the place, we set out to restore it slowly — one step at a time. Across these two years, a lot has changed: we’ve cleared, repaired, planted, and built — bit by bit. We’ve started on the roof, fixed leaks, restored doors and shutters, removed crumbling plaster, mapped out future plans, and made a start on the garden. Most of all, we’ve been learning. Not just about wood, stone, and mortar — but about how to care for a place with patience, and how to grow a home gently over time. This is a story of slow restoration, and a home in the making.
