Avatar- The Fire Nation (The Greatest Civilization in History)

Video Tumblr : http://zoopoe.tumblr.com/ Primary Tumblr: http://evolou.tumblr.com/ Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/zoopoe So I was struggling through other fandom videos when I got a message from Avatar Alliance about a contest. I have never done a contest and decided to make a new video and try it out. Originally I thought this video was just going to be about the Fire Nation, but as I started planning it out, I realized I could make something more out of it. I have been holding off on making a Zuko tribute because I felt overwhelmed on what to do if I ever tried to. Though Aang, The Avatar, is technically the focus of the show, I have always felt that the whole ATLA Universe/Story revolved around Zuko, and his part is so complicated that I felt it was impossible to capture in one tribute. His struggle through the series was for his honor, but it also served as a metaphor for redemption; in the case of the Fire Nation, redemption from genocide and pride and the horrors of war it has inflicted on the world. Zuko's choices between good and evil reflect the fate of the Fire Nation and their own honor; Zuko has to struggle between what is honorable to his Nation and what is right for the world. His battles I argue were more interesting and devastating then even the Avatar's. Aang was the obvious good guy who would of course eventually defeat the evil bad guy. But Zuko's battle by the end of the series was how to take the Fire Nation and by extension himself, not evil by nature but condemned by past actions, and try to make something good for the future from their unforgettable and complicated past. That kind of moral conflict is what Zuko went through in ATLA, his story and the story of the Fire Nation are woven together, and it is some of the best TV consequences ever written for a kids show in my opinion. And so here is my tribute to Zuko who stood for more than just himself, but for the honor, peace, and destiny of the world.
