Honor 8X Real Review: As Good As it Looks?
Honor recently landed in Nepal with the Honor 8X and the Honor Play. Both of these phones cry out what honor stands for, Good phones for Good Price. So, without any further ado lets see if the Honor 8X really delivers what it stands for in our Honor 8X Real Review! The flat two-toned glass back looks simple but it looks attractive at the same time. And I like how the tones are subtly split to separate the honor logo and the cameras from the rest of the glass back. I am a fan of this matte black rounded edges. This gives the phone a stealthy clean look. Also, I thought, this matte black coating might get scuffed pretty fast, but I haven’t seen a single scratch until now. The story is same at the front too. The screen on the Honor 8X stretches nearly edge-to-edge. The side bezels are nearly non-existent and the bottom bezel is minimal. The notch is small and doesn’t interfere the experience of using the phone. Nothing about the looks of the Honor 8X will tell you that this phone costs only Rs. 32000. Now let’s talk about one of the most important parts of a phone – the display. Honor 8X has a 6.5 inches IPS LCD screen with the resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. Even though the screen is large, the texts look sharp and clear. The display produces saturated and vivid colors but it is not on the same level as an OLED panel. Moving on, whatever is outside the phone is nowhere near as important as what’s inside. If the phone performs poorly, good looks won’t take it far. Honor 8X is powered by a 12nm Octa- Core Kirin 710 processor and this processor is paired with 4GB of RAM. Also, it has 64GB of internal storage with a dedicated micro sd slot that supports upto 400GB. Now the Honor 8X has a dual camera setup at the back. One of those lens is a 20MP primary shooter with f/1.8 aperture, another is a 2 MP depth sensor. The photos that this setup captures look saturated and that’s not a surprise because it’s a phone from a sister company of Huawei. Here, in this photo of a flower, you can see how saturated the sky blue color of the walls look. Same is the case here with the orange wall on this picture. This may appeal to some people. But if you want the perfect natural looking photo, the Honor 8 x is definitely not for you. But you can slightly adjust this issue by turning off the AI feature of the camera. If you are a light user and don’t do much on your phone throughout the day, you can push 2 days without having to charge this phone. For me, the 8X is an one and a half day phone. I wish I could sing the same praises for the charging speed of the 8X. The Honor 8X mysteriously chose to go with the microUSB connector when all the industry is moving towards the USB C. It doesn’t feel like Honor 8X supports any form of fast charging. Plugging this phone into the power outlet for a minute will give you 1% worth of charge. So, you can understand, how long it will take to fill this phone up to a 100% from a dead battery. Before we wrap this review up, I wanted a little about the software on this device. Honor 8X ships with Android 8.1 oreo with EMUI 8.2 skin on top. This is the same skin found on Huawei devices. So if you have used Huawei devices in the past, you will feel right at home here. The UI is not that hard to figure out but it comes preloaded with bloatware out of the box. This takes up unnecessary space in your storage. So, you should uninstall any apps that you won’t use when you first get the phone. After critiquing every single aspect of this phone one by one, we have come to the end of our review. I absolutely loved the design and the build quality of this phone. The screen is fantastic for the price and the performance is good enough for most people. The only downsides that I can point out are the hollow speakers, the bloatware, and the horrendous charging time. If you can live with these small drawbacks, Honor 8X is a fantastic phone for the price it demands. CONNECT WITH US ON: ? Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/techlekh ?
