Bhai Avtar Singh,Gurcharan Singh and Sawaran Singh, Interview Visions of Punjab HIGH
Visions of Punjab presents Interview with Raagi Jatha of Late Bhai Avtar Singh,Bhai Gurcharan Singh and Bhai Sawaran Singh. They hail from village Saidpur District Kapurthala in Punjab.They are sons of Late Bhai Jawala Singh ji (a highly accomplished Gurmat Sangeet Ragi of his time). Both brothers had training of Gurmat Sangeet from their father. With their fathers blessings started a "Kirtan Jatha", they had already mastered the art of rendition of approximately five hundred "Reets" (tunes) spanning into all the thirty one "Raagas" mentioned in the holy "Sri Guru Granth Sahib". All the meticulous training they received from their father reflects in their style and substance. Bhai Avtar Singh, the younger of the two brothers, went to his heavenly abode in November of 2006. Throughout his life as a "Kirtania", he (Bhai Avtar Singh) remembered all those five hundred "Reets" and had recorded all of them for the Punjabi University Patiala.
