St Thomas MP and Environment Minister want illegal dumpers to face stiff penalties
Minister of the Environment and National Beautification Adrian Forde wants people with video footage of illegal dumping activity to come forward to allow the authorities to take action against them. Forde’s tough stance came following a tour by Member of Parliament for St Thomas Cynthia Forde of some sites in that parish after which she called for harsh penalties for persons caught dumping illegally. Describing the perennial dumping situation in St Thomas as heart-wrenching, MP Forde said she was aggrieved that people continue to dump truckloads of debris, animal carcasses, coconut shells, construction material, old clothing, and household appliances and other items, in secluded areas across that parish.
