The Sword Part 1: Terraced Garden | Cities: Skylines - Asthalum EP 9

The Sword Part 1: Terraced Garden | Cities: Skylines - Asthalum EP 9 In this episode, we finally get into our first fantasy element of the city, a giant sword. I was inspired by "The Last Remnant" a little known RPG game by Square Enix. In that game, there is a city with a giant sword in the center plaza. The name of the city is Athlum which obviously where I took inspiration from for my city's name. For the garden, it is influenced by The Hanging Garden of Babylon, Hyakudanen by Tadao Ando, and other various places that stuck on my head. I have to split this area into two part video because otherwise, it will be a nearly 50 minutes video which I don't really want to. Welcome to Asthalum, a Cities: Skylines Fantasy series which heavily inspired by various Fantasy Games, TV Show and Movies. But, I will also use some real life references, especially wonders of the ancient world In this series, I will not create a detailed city, but rather a big picture of what a fantasy city will look like in the modern day. You will only find some detail in the city's landmarks and should not expect any detailed road lines. And I will use as few assets as possible because of RAM reasons. City's Backstory: Demons lurking in the night forced humanity to hide in their dwelling away from the darkness, using light as their protection. 1000 years ago, there was a huge endless volcanic eruption that covers the entire world with dark ash causing the event known as "The Eternal Darkness". Demons roam freely across the land, bringing massive damage all over the world. One day, a young hero blessed with the power of Goddess Asthalia stood up at the top of the volcano, turning lava into water, ash into fresh air, and stopped the eternal darkness once and for all. Months have passed since the event, and the area around the volcano filled with resources, bringing people into the area, thus the city of Asthalum was founded and the young hero became the king of the newly founded city.
