With love there is hope

Respect is a positive behavior that essentially stems out of positive thoughts. A lot of research and debate is going on about thoughts being energy and having frequency that attracts things of similar frequency but in a layman's language, positive attracts more positives. Similarly it is not rocket science to know that contempt and disrespect is a negative emotion and behavior that in turns brings more negativities. "If you sow thorns you can't grow berries" is the universal law that governs positive and negative thinking. Respecting others is a measure of one's own character and emotional intelligence. Character can be built with hard work and Emotional Intelligence is a skill that can be perfected with practice and knowledge. Give vs. get paradigm. Respect is more about giving then getting. Giving is a sign of maturity. A newborn is a bundle of wants and hence at the lowest rung of maturity. While a Grandfather (if mature) is a personification of Give and hence at the highest rung of the spectrum of maturity. Respect is about giving and can only be done if one is mature enough to sacrifice short term gain for long term goals.
