Empoli Tuscany Italy
A nice town on the lower valley of Arno in Tuscany Italy. At the central square Farinata degli Uberti rises the Collegiata a romanesque church already known during the year 840. The beautiful facade is decorated with "ad opus sectile" marble encrustation . The upper part of the facade was rebuilt in the 18th century by Ferdinando Ruggeri, the classical window at the center of the facade is restored. The lower part of the facade is covered by blind arcades and the upper part is measured by flat pilasters on classical capitals. There are panels and geometrical motifs made of serpentine inside each arcade. The internal part of the church was modified and enlarged by F. Ruggeri himself uniting the three naves and raising up the ceiling. Well connected by train every 30 min. with Florence. Pablo Bisquera. http://www.youtube.com/pabisq
