Exploring Mérida's forgotten mini Chichén Itzá

Ciudad Maya was the place to be in 1980s Mérida, but the eccentric nightclub was abandoned years ago. Left behind is a somewhat spooky place that you would visit only at your own risk. On the littered grounds is what's left of a scale model of the Mayan ruins at Chichén Itzá, including the Kukulkán pyramid, the observatory, and even its sacred cenote — hold your nose! Producer Carlos Rosado van der Gracht takes his chances and explores. Note: The entrance to Casa Maya is actually on Calle 84, though the property does span all the way across Calle 82.
