It cost 60 dollars but I think it should go free to play. There are a few reasons why Battleborn should go f2p. 1 are the bad sales, it seems like the game is not performing very well on PlayStation 4, PC and Xbox One. Als the other upcoming multiplayer games are a big competition, some of them are even free like Paragon and Smite. Also Overwatch and Call of Duty will not help this game compete for time. Battleborn free to play or a unlimited trial would help sell the game since players can try the game with their friends and pay for Battleborn characters for example or battleborn skins.
