‘Very strange’: Boston mayor hosts party for ‘Electeds of Colour’ only

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu has sparked backlash for hosting an ‘Electeds of Colour’ Christmas party which excludes white people. The event evoked attention after the mayor accidentally sent the email invite to white councillors. “It’s a revealing story,” Centre of the American Experiment President John Hinderaker told Sky News Australia. “Some people defending this said, well this is nothing new – this group called the ‘Electeds of Colour’ have been around for more than a decade and they have all kinds of … events for electeds of colour, this is just one of them. “I’m not sure why anybody would want to have a Christmas party that is racially segregated – that just seems like a very strange thing to do.”
