Talking Wood with Johannes Rebhahn: Engineered Wood has many advantages in structural design
The beautiful Macallan Distillery in Craigellachie, Speyside in Scotland was designed and produced by an Austrian company Wiehag, GmbH. Johannes Rebhahn, DI and Head of International Timber Projects, explains how the undulating roof was constructed: “The Macallan Distillery is not actually curved, it’s faceted. There is a kink every three meters, and that made the geometry challenging,” he says. The structure was successfully crafted, however, by using Kerto® LVL (laminated veneer lumber).
