In this video, I show the process for getting the rear hatch open on a 2001 Ford Escape (1st generation) when the latch actuator fails. I also show some quick troubleshooting steps and the replacement of the hatch handle assembly. Unfortunately, you either have to get parts from a salvage yard, or buy the entire assembly from Ford as the lock actuator is not available as a standalone part from Ford or the aftermarket.
