Fritz Lang introducing Metropolis + Original score
Voice of Fritz Lang and portions of the original soundtrack of Metropolis conducted by Gottfried Huppertz himself recorded in 1927 on vinyl (78rpm record) under the VOX label. If someone can help me translating Fritz Lang's speech it would be very appreciated! (probably my translation is partially incorrect) Here the first part of his speech: GER: "Film ist die Romantik unserer Zeit, Film ist das unerschöpfliche Abenteuer, Film ist sichtbar gewordenes Märchen, Ist Bildhaftmachung von noch nie Geschautem, Nie mehr zu Schauendem, Denn er hat die Macht..." ENG: "Film is the romance of our time, Film is the inexhaustible adventure, Film is a visible fairytale, Is imprisonment of never seen, Never again to see, Because it has the power ... " And here's the final part (from 3:30): GER: "Dieser Film ist die kommerten Erzaehle vom kalben unseres Jahrhundert zum Apostel der Voelker untereinander zu entwickeln, dessen Botschaft so wie stumme Sprache des lebendigen Bildes ueberall verstanden werden wird wo Menschen guten Willen sind. Diese Worte gebe ich Metropolis zum Geleit." ENG: "This film is the comedic story of the split of our century, of the apostle who brings a message among the peoples, a silent language which will be understood everywhere, among the people of goodwill. With these words i introduce you to Metropolis"
