The Alwar laments that so far he had lost himself and got entangled in relationships like mother, father, wife etc. He further laments that he is the worst sinner who has never sung the glories of the Lord who has taken births repeatedly without knowing the purpose of life. Now he has come to the Lord's feet with an intense desire to serve Him. He beseeches the Lord to accept him. In the last verse, he says that those who sing these verses will be freed of all the sins - paadal patthum payilvaarukku illai paavangaley. P. S - One is reminded of the famous Pancharatna kriti, 'Dudukugala' of Saint Tyagaraja, where he laments in a similar vein.
