Summer has ended and autumn is in full swing. This time of year is also called fall; can you guess why? It’s because of the falling leaves. Winter is coming, and so the trees shed their old leaves to replace them with new ones in the spring. And on the ground, there is an entire carpet of leaves. Some say this is the most beautiful time of year; I can see why. Look at all the gorgeous colours. It’s an especially beautiful day today. Usually, it gets cold around this time of year; but, today is an unusually warm day. The weather is simply fantastic. This is also a good time of year to see our friends the chickadees and other animals. A chipmunk. They are all busy collecting seeds and other food and storing it for winter. See the chickadee? The chipmunk has big cheeks, and it can fit a lot of seeds in them. It doesn’t eat them right away; it stores them. Look at those big cheeks.
