Efficient photo (and video) editing, part 2: my iPad workflow (September 2019)
Update: Since I made this video Adobe updated Lightroom, after the release of iOS 13, so that it’s now possible to read images directly from an SD card straight into Lightroom without needing to use the Apple Photos app. I demonstrate this in a new video which is referenced in the end card at the very end of this video. In this video I demonstrate my workflows for getting photos and videos from an SD card (or other external storage) onto my iPad and into Lightroom (for photos) and LumaFusion (for video). A few things to note: - One thing I forgot to mention, if’s not obvious, is that with iOS 12 the only way to access external drives is through wifi using a drive like the WD My Passport Wireless Pro or using a device like the RAVPower Filehub. These solutions are slow and clunky. Now with iOS 13 you don’t need to do this since the operating system will support accessing drives directly. - You may have noticed in the sequence where I imported photos from SD cards that some of the photos were displayed in the Apple Photos app as blank white images. These RAW files were from the RX100 VII, a brand-new camera that the Apple Photos app didn’t know how to handle. They imported fine into Lightroom. - At the end of the video at 19:30, the audio and video are out of sync. This appears to have occurred somehow when YouTube processed the video as this problem was not present in the render created by Lumafusion.
