Breakdancing originated in New York in the late 1960s, but it wasn't until the 1980s that it really became popular. In 1984, after the release of the American film "Breakdance", the dance began to spread rapidly in the Soviet Union. Despite the "iron curtain", the movement of breakers became more and more widespread. Interestingly, its participants were self-taught, who studied new dance movements using foreign films and magazines.
