Coloring and shading Portraits | DIGITAL Art Class [INFINITE PAINTER]

Hey guys! Hello and welcome to #mad. So in today’s video, I thought to share one of the easiest ways of coloring and shading that I mostly used to do while practicing portraits. First, draw the outline of your sketch that you want, well not necessarily it has to be a human figure. You can color any sketch using this simple technique. You can see, I take a new layer. So that I can easily edit further without hampering the sketch. The first thing that hammers the beginners is what should be the brush and what would be the color tone! Don’t create any complications and choose a simple color, a lighter shade of the color you used for sketching. I’m taking a lighter shade of red. When you are choosing a brush try to take a brush with less pressure. I mean a brush that spreads fewer colors in one single stroke. Here I’m taking the light wash from the watercolor section. I made this tutorial, especially for beginners who find difficulty drawing portraits or doing colors and shading. Don’t think much and Colour everywhere within your sketch. I’ll color from top to bottom excluding the hairs. Let’s do the eyes. Pick any color, I’m taking a shade of blue. Using the same brush, I’m covering all the areas of the iris. Now I’m taking a darker shade and coloring the top part of the iris and also pointing to the pupil. Now what I’m going to do is minimize the opacity of the layer on which I’ve drawn the outline of the figure. Pinch the color wheel to the skin color and take a darker shade I’m going to color the lower and upper eye portion, and also the nose portion. I mean the possible portions where the shadow can generate. One suggestion for you that, first recognize the position from where the light is coming which will be our highlighting position, and shadow will generate in the opposite direction. Now here I’m going to do a trick. I’ll duplicate the outline layer. So, now I’ve two different outline layers. I’ll hide one layer for further use and merge another layer with the color layer to blend and shade the color. For blending I’m using the same light wash brush. Blend it well. I’m applying some colors to the nose to highlight areas. Simultaneously I’ll blend all the colors. Let’s color the lips, and work on the shadows of the lower face. Don’t think much about the detailed description. Actually, this thought makes things complicated and beginners stop creating. Just take a color and start brushing! For the eyelashes, I’ll use the old glazed brush from paint. Again, highlighting the eyebrows. Draw with a dark shade where the hairs touched the skin as a shadow will generate. Don’t forget to blend the colors and this is really important for digital art. Now the simplest part is the hairs. Apply any relevant colors and blend them all! As in this project. I use only old glazed and light wash brushes… for the hairs, I’ll use similar ones. Otherwise, you can find plenty of brushes in the infinite painter app. Even I made some hair brushes which you can download as those are available on my channel. So, you can check out my previous videos searching ‘free hair brush’. So, I think this is one of the simplest methods of coloring and shading.
