The steady flow energy equation is a fundamental principle in fluid mechanics, and it can be applied to analyze the flow through nozzles. The steady flow energy equation helps us analyze the changes in the fluid's state as it passes through a nozzle. The following Problem has been worked out in this video. Steam at 1.6 MPa and 350°C steadily enters a nozzle whose inlet area is 0.03 mm2. The mass flow rate of steam through the nozzle is 6 kg/s. Steam leaves the nozzle at 1.2 MPa with a velocity of 270 m/s. Heat losses from the nozzle per unit mass of the steam are estimated to be 2.6 KJ/Kg.
