Country clubs sold Sherman Oaks & Studio City in the 1920s and 1930s - Vintage LA KABC Episode 92B

Karl Gerber explains how suburbia was sold in Los Angeles. First he discusses bus tours picked up along Wilshire Boulevard. But the more spectacular efforts included the Hollywood Hills Country Club in Studio City, Whitley Park in Sherman Oaks both of which were massive country clubs. Girard's fake mosque like village along Ventura Boulevard in Woodland Hills is also discussed as a means of luring buyers. In the case of Girard he re-sold the lots to numerous people, and sold not the best lots. Defunct professions and old commercials were played on this fun retro episode.
