'POLKADOTS & MOONBEAMS' - Improvised Solo Guitar Arrangement (Aleister James Campbell)
An improvised solo arrangement of the beautiful 1940 jazz standard 'Polkadots and Moonbeams' by Jimmy van Heusen and Johnny Burke. First and only take... I've been exploring tunes like this a lot recently, in a loose almost 'rubato style' which is an idea I stole from the great tenor saxophonist Joe Lovano. I asked dJoe if I could get a lesson off him many years ago, and he told me I didn't need a lesson; I just needed to play a whole lot more. It was great advice! I first heard 'Polkadots and Moonbeams' on Wes Montgomery's classic album 'The Incredible Jazz Guitar', but over the years I've loved many versions of this tune. There's more educational content in the pipeline, so we'll see you soon I hope. Aleister James Campbell www.aleisterjames.com www.musicmagus.com
