Chasing the Mac Pro - Part 2: my Mini Mac Pro for $1,500
In Part 2, we create an upgradable Mac system based around the Mac Mini for $1,500. Chasing the Mac Pro Series. The new Mac Pro is back as a modular and configurable computer. It is wrapped in a very appealing chassis that is highly desired for the upgradability. However, it’s very expensive. Is this something you should consider? In this series we’ll look into the Mac Pro and consider some alternatives to get Mac Pro like capability and expandability. The Mac Mini is the only other choice you have from Apple to create, a new and expandable Mac Pro like system. With a careful selection of parts, I'll show how I created my upgradable Mac Mini or modular Mac Mini. I like to call it my Ultimate Mac Mini setup. You may be thinking "Should I buy the Mac Mini"? How does it compare in a Mac Mini vs Mac Pro or Mac Mini vs iMac Pro or even Mac Mini vs 5k iMac scenario? We'll run some benchmarks like Cinebench and Geekbench to understand performance. This is the best Mac Mini setup to enable you to perform a Mac Mini RAM Upgrade, Mac Mini SSD Upgrade or GPU Upgrade. The CPU upgrade can only happen when Apple upgrades the Mac Mini itself. It may not be a Mac Pro killer, but it's a cheaper alternative to the Mac Pro. This Mac Mini setup under $1500 and offers very good performance for the money.
