Far cry 4 pixelated graphics problem / glitch

I'm experiencing a problem with my graphics in Far Cry 4, it seems to happen when I cross an invisible border and what I think is happening is that the shadow is changing but in that process is becomes pixelated. I have tried reducing all of my settings down to low, but the pixelation is still happening. I'm using a GTX 970 with i7 4790k, 16gb ram. I have no idea what could be causing this.
