1.2 Installing Unreal Engine
IMPORTANT: Recommended Engine Version 1 min read Due to the removal of the starter content in Unreal 5.7, we highly recommend using Unreal 5.6 when following along with this course. Using the same software version as the instructor will give you the smoothest learning experience! If you do decide to use Unreal 5.7 instead, please be aware that you will need to migrate the starter content from an existing 5.6 project. Please also be aware that you must use Visual Studio 2022 when using Unreal 5.6, as later versions do not include the appropriate libraries - NO NOT USE Visual Studio 2026! Lastly, if the Windows 10 SDK isn't available, the Windows 11 SDK should work just fine. If you have any questions, please ask in the Q&A.
