Они пугали людей, вызывали наваждение, ночные кошмары и болезни. А также им приписывали феномен полтергейста - они переставляли и портили одежду и мебель. Особым интересом для кикимор являлись младенцы. Если от кикимор не избавиться вовремя, то они могут украсть младенца и заменить его на деревянную куклу или собственного нечистого ребёнка. При этом люди не заметят разницу из-за наваждения их чар. Чтобы выгнать кикимор из дома, достаточно найти и сжечь тряпичные куклы.
