The salary of an average IT fresher in India has not increased much over the last few years. However, with a few years of experience, folks are able to command a much higher salary in IT as well as other industries by using multiple methods. No, this is not about the salary hike you get post-master’s or any other educational qualification. You can learn how to increase your salary in the IT industry and other domains without an MBA. Software engineer salary numbers take a huge jump if they efficiently use these methods. Let’s start with an example. Keshav and Kashyap are two exceptionally good IT employees. The salaries of these IT employees are 8.5 LPA and 25 LPA after graduating from KITS Bhuvaneshwar. Why? These salary differences occur for many reasons. Just thinking about how to get a high salary won’t help you get into a company that pays a high salary. In this video, I have shared methods you can use to increase your salary. If you think you deserve a salary hike or a high salary compared to what you’re drawing from your company right now then this video will surely help you. The first thing that every employee needs to focus on is whether the skill you’re working on is a high-value skill or not. High-value skills help you increase your salary and also get a high-salary job or high-paying job. In the case of Keshav, he added another skill that is AEM to his core Java Developer skill. This is what you can also do. You can add a skill to your resume. Thus you need to add a few more skills to your core skill to succeed. Java Developers can go for Adobe Experience Management, front-end developers can go for AWS, and business intelligence individuals can go for Data Analytics. Whatever is the adjacent skill to your core skill has to be added to your resume through a course or real-life work experience. It is difficult for recruiters to find folks with more than 1 skill, but it is relatively easier to find someone with just one core skill. The next point is how long you stay in a particular company. If you spend more than 2-3 years in a particular company, what are the kind of salary increments that you can expect? You need to ask these questions. In most cases, it would be 10% every year or if you perform really well then it would be 20% per year. It would take 5 years for your salary to double at the rate of 15% per year. On the other hand, if you switch, after 2-3 years, your salary will jump at least 50-60% in an instant. When you are in the early stages of your career, these salary jumps are significant. If you have the checkboxes such as, not liking the culture, not learning anything, or not getting any benefits out of it, then you should switch your job. If you once get into the habit of letting it continue then it becomes really difficult to move forward from there. Another criterion is whether or not you are an expert in your field. As you move forward in your career, you should try to be known for just one thing. To become an expert you need to stay in the loop and know what are new things happening in your domain. Look out for the brown bag sessions and new training opportunities. You should take a few courses that will give you an edge in the beginning and continue improving from there onwards. Don’t underestimate the power of networking and upskilling. Hope you find this video valuable, see you in the next one. ***** About Me I publish meaningful and valuable content on this channel.
