Feeling the Power of Steam with SF 3751 (Part 1/16)

For all my life, I wanted to see this beautiful locomotive with my very own eyes, and today my wish has come true. To add to the excitement, I (accompanied by my father and my younger brother) had tickets to ride the train and to truly feel the power of steam! Today's train comprises of the following: Ex-ATSF Baldwin 4-8-4 #3751; Amtrak P42DC AMTK #13; Amtrak Amfleet Coach #82540; Amtrak Amfleet Coach #82500; Amtrak Horizon Fleet Coach #54500; Ex-CP Party/Event Car PPCX #800320 "Pony Express"; Amtrak Horizon Fleet Café #58107; Amtrak Horizon Fleet Coach #54552; Amtrak Amfleet Coach #82530; Amtrak Amfleet Coach #82570; Ex-DRGW, née ATSF Lounge/Super-Dome #800124 "Nenana"; Ex-CBQ, née CZ Coach/Diner/Lounge/Dome #800190 "Silver Lariat"; Ex-CBQ Diner/Lounge/Dome #800604 "Silver Splendor"; Ex-CBQ, née CZ Sleeper/Lounge/Dome #800333 "Silver Solarium". At 9:55 in the morning, we grudge our way out of the Los Angeles Union Station as a crowd of railfans excitedly wave their farewells. The train moves off the yard limits (the station itself) and turns south onto the western bank of the Los Angeles River via the Metrolink River Subdivision, where we pass the 8th Street Amtrak yard, the sleeping ground for the steam locomotive. For most of the journey, I stayed in the 8th car, pointing my camera out the window while my radio scanner chatters beside me. The air conditioning system was not working, but that did not stop me from enjoying the passing scenery! *Please comment and enjoy the show!*
