The Old Astronaut
The Old Astronaut is a stop motion/claymation that I did over the course of six to seven months. It tells the story of an Old Astronaut (naturally) who has retired and outlived his family. One day he devises a plan to make a "comeback" with NASA by flying to a planet never explored before. His intention however is to not survive landing on this planet. Set in poetic, narrative format, the Old Astronaut gets the approval to take action on his plan but it never works the way it was intended. The Astronaut accidentally gets detoured off-course and back to the Earth, where he discovers the Earth was as ready to die as he was. The Old Astronaut ironically out survives all of humanity.
