Japan, Kamiseya - Mountain Village in Spring, Walking Terraces and Streams
Mar 27, 2025 A rainy late-afternoon walk through snowy Sasabu no Sato in Kamiseya, a small farming village with terraced rice fields in the mountains of Northern Kyoto Prefecture. I had planned to walk up to a waterfall just above the village, but with the trail closed and rain closing in I didn't make it too far. Instead I walked along the snow lined canals running through the village as the rain fell and afternoon turned to dusk. The fields around the village are on the list of Japan's Top 100 Rice Fields, and the terraces are now mostly under snow, waiting for the spring planting season ahead. They are close to the popular Miyazu tourist attractions of Amanohashidate and Ine-cho, and somewhat of an attraction themselves. Filmed Mid March, 2025 Video is from "Ambient Exploration" channel
