Hidden Secrets of Modality - Emoji, Numbers, Single Letter Entry
None of this is really secret; we’re not necessarily hiding it. It’s just we’re working with a very small interface, and so we’ve had to put things in places that people may not guess at first. So. The first one is fairly obvious. It’s the shift. You hit that arrow and then you’ll get the first letter capitalized. But watch the shift key when I start typing a word. So you see it becomes a right arrow, indicating that there’s more words. Like television, or telephone. I also might note that if I hit the backspace key or the delete key in between, once I’ve started a word, it’ll just return me back to, as if I had not done anything yet. Then of course there’s a space, and there’s a carriage return, which we figure we won’t have to use that much on a watch, so we made it small and down there. But the other one is these three dots, which it means there’s more. And if you hit that, you get your numbers. And then you can hit ABC to go back. But also very, very importantly, if you ever need to do an entry of a word that is unusual or maybe a name that hasn’t showed up, you can hit the ABC, and you’ll go into single letter mode. And what happens here, like if you wanted to put in Modality. It just builds it one word at a time, but it’s also recording it so that it’ll show up the next time. Hit a space. And then hit the three dots again, and, next time you type, whichever word you just put in, it’ll show up for you. You can also get into single letter mode if you try to put a word that just doesn’t exist. And then it’ll tell you, Oh, I can add a word, I can cancel which is start over, or there are some tips in here as well. Which you can read if you want. If you add a word, that’s when it brings you back into that same single letter mode. So we hope you enjoy your experience with Modality. We’ve already got one person who says it’s better than any of the other alternatives out there, so we’re really excited about that. And message us on Facebook, let us know how it’s going. Thank you.
