Speedy grade in 3D LUT Creator, Part 11 In this video I will grade this photo. I will make of it something gentler using pastel tones. To begin with I will reduce the color saturation in a channel mixer, at the same time I will slightly remove the color variability. Now on A/B tab, I’m going to adjust brightness and contrast. I move Pivot slider to the left to lighten the shadows. I will make all the greens colder using a color grid. Here is before, here is after. It turned out pretty well. What don't I like in here? The girl has very dark lips. Let’s make them brighter! To brighten the lips, I will use Curves. They should not affect the entire image, so I will use a color mask. I’m going to make a quick HSP mask. I will turn on the mask preview for convenience. I smooth a bit the mask border. The dress gets into the mask a little, but it does not matter. My mask will be applied only to curves. How to make lips brighter? If I use Master curve, the artifacts in the shadows will appear on the dress. Therefore, I will work with black channel curve in CMYK2 curves. It works much more delicately and affects mainly shadows. Here are the lips before, here are the lips after. Shadows became brighter, but they do not stand out on the image, as it was in case with Master curve. I will also make the skin not so pink and pale. I would do it in CMYK curves, but they are already taken. Therefore, on A/B tab I will switch to the Double Grid mode. The current grid now is in the highlights, so I copy it to the shadows. The shadows that are close to the neutral shades, I will make a little richer by moving the center of the grid in the direction of the orange shade. Done! Here is before, here is after. That's all!
