Það voru afar eftirminnilegir tónleikar. Þar flutti Hymnodia og Þórhildur Örvarsdóttir lagið Húm eftir Atla. Þessi afar einfalda hljómaröð og laglína heillaði mig og því tók ég Húm upp á orgel Akureyrarkirkju fyrir 2 árum og setti perluna á plötuna mína Septim. Þá fékk ég Atla til að vinna með upptöku af mér, spilandi verkið á harmóníum, og búa til "tape" útgáfu af verkinu. Ég spilaði svo með þeirri upptöku og útkoman á plötunni er þannig, orgel og upptaka af harmóníum, unnin af tónskáldinu og Kristjáni Edelstein. Ég sat áðan á skrifstofunni heima hjá mér og horfði yfir tölvuskjáinn yfir Svarfaðardalinn til suður. Húmið var svo fallegt þegar síðasta dagsbirtan hvarf einhvernveginn á bak bið Stólinn. Þá datt mér þessi dásemd hans Atla í hug og hljóp niður og tók það upp. Það passar við daginn í dag. Fallegt og kyrrt, smá vetur í því (-18° hér) og til að leggja áherslu á dimmt húmið ákvað ég að nota 32' rödd í fótspili, dimmustu tónana sem ég get fengið úr orgelinu. Hlustið endilega á Húm á streymisveitum, það er þar í fleiri útgáfum 🙂 Noorlander Avanti III orgel Swellinq sampleset: Kam orgelið (1859) í Grote Kerk - Dordrecht (Hollandi) ----- A few years ago, film composer and keyboard player Atli Örvarsson and guitarist Kristján Edelstein played with Hymnodia, my vocal ensemble at our Christmas concert. It was a very memorable concert. There, Hymnodia and Þórhildur Örvarsdóttir performed the song Húm (Dusk) by Atli. This extremely simple chord sequence and melody fascinated me, and so I recorded Húm on the organ of Akureyri Church 2 years ago and put the little gem on my album Septim. Then I asked Atli to work with a recording of me playing the piece on a reed organ, and create a "tape" version of the piece. I then played with that recording and the result on the album is organ and a recording of the reed organ, prepared by the composer and Kristján Edelstein. Earlier today, I was sitting in my office at home and looking over the computer screen across the Svarfaðardalur valley to the south. The mood was so beautiful when the last light somehow disappeared behind the mountain Stóll (Chair). Then I thought of Atli's piece and went down to my organ and recorded it. It fits this day. Beautiful and still, a bit wintery (-18°C here) and to emphasize the dusk, I decided to use a 32' stop in the pedal, the darkest tones I can get from the organ.
