Microsoft Power BI - Do it Yourself(DIY) Tutorial - Calculations for Append Queries - DIY -13-of-50 by Bharati DW Consultancy cell: +1-562-646-6746 (Cell & Whatsapp) email: bharati.dwconsultancy@gmail.com website: http://bharaticonsultancy.in/ Power BI - Do it Yourself Tutorial - Calculations for Append Queries - DIY -13-of-50 In this video, we will talk about Data Modeling - Calculations Appending Queries in Power BI. 1- Please refer to the video #9, where we set the context of implementing a project. 2- Use the PBIX file used in the video #12. 3- Open Query Editor, and then click on the New Sources, select the D_CUST_APP2.xls - Customer table. 4- The goal is to create a Union between D_CUST2 (D_CUST_APP2.xls) and the existing D_CUST table. 5- Make sure that the column names are matching; rename the columns if necessary - CUSTOMER_ID to CUST_ID and so on. 6- Goto Add Column Menu and click on Merge Columns - CST_NM from [CUST_FRST_NM] and [CST_LAST_NM]) Goto Add Column Menu and click on Conditional Column - CST_TYPE 7- Click on D_CUST table, then Click on Append Queries - this is similar to Union. 8- Select Table to append as D_CUST2. 9- In the Applied steps, move the Appended Query above the Merged Queries 10- Close the Query Editor, and then on the relationship view, select the D_CUST2 right-click and select Hide in Report View. 11- Do the following Hands on exercises. Hands on - DIY #19 1- Repeat the above steps, without watching the video. 2- Understand the challenges from DIY # 18 and find out why those additional columns were needed. 3- Note down the differences of this video v.s. your attempt in DIY # 18.
