The Projector Project: Lights, Camera, InterACTION! Introduction
Kids nowadays use technology in almost every aspect of their life. So why are schools behind the times when it comes to teaching with technology? We need to update the way we engage our students. Gone are the days of overhead projectors and dry erase boards. We need to be using methods that not only engage the student but make them an interactive participant in their education. Here at Williams Middle School, we have started this shift towards this goal but we need your help. We currently have 43 LCD projectors on campus being used in classrooms. These projectors are sitting on tables, desks, paper boxes and other makeshift surfaces with cords hanging down and running across the floor. The current setup has created an unsafe learning and teaching environment. We have had several students and staff members trip and fall due to the cords. Luckily no one has been severely hurt, yet. Our goal is to mount these projectors in the ceiling using the Extron Pole Vault system. In order to accomplish this we need to raise $183,000 for all the projectors to be professionally installed.
