There are 9 buttons and 8 of them can be customized using the included driver/software. The buttons are L, R, middle (mouse wheel), DPI switch (up & down), rapid fire button, 2 side thumb buttons (default to forward & back in browser) and profile switch button on the back. There is built-in back light around the mouse wheel and also around logo (they can display different colors). The mouse supports PNP and works well on my windows 7,10, and XP laptops. Software/driver CD installation is required for advance features, such as DPI fine tune - it's 1000/2000/4000/7200/14400 when using on mouse buttons and user can adjust from 50-14400 DPI inside the software. 5 profile saves are available and can be quickly switched by pressing the botton on the button. Backlight pattern mode can be adjusted in software as well, including solid, breathing, and flashing back lights.
