Aminta Kilawan-Narine speaks before New York State Redistricting Commission
Our founder and director Aminta Kilawan-Narine testified on November 17, 2021 as a member of the APAVOICE Redistricting Task Force, a lawyer and an organizer who has lived in a gerrymandered South Ozone Park for most of her life. Aminta called on the New York State Independent Redistricting Commission to adopt lines that keep the community of interest in Richmond Hill, South Ozone Park and Ozone Park whole, areas home to a sprawling number of Asian Americans including South Asians and Indo-Caribbeans. Aminta testified In support of the Unity Map created by the Asian American Legal Defense Fund which does not dilute black local leadership achieved while at the same time empowers others who have been historically marginalized. #KEEPUSWHOLE #EndGerrymandering
