Review of Bubble Bobble Neo for XBLA by Protomario

Bubble Bobble Neo! (バブルボブル Neo!, Baburu Boburu Neo!?) is a remake of the 1986 action-platformer arcade game Bubble Bobble. The game was developed and published by Taito and was released on the Xbox Live Arcade download service for the Xbox 360. The game stars the twin bubble dragons Bub (Bubblun) (バブルン, Baburun?) and Bob (Bobblun) (ボブルン, Boburun?) as well as a magenta bubble dragon and an orange bubble dragon. As with the original, players travel through at least one hundred different stages, busting and pushing bubbles, avoiding enemies and collecting a variety of items. The remake features simultaneous 4-player support, 3D character models, new collectible letters, some altered levels, and downloadable content that is currently unavailable. Bubble Bobble is one of those games that everyone had on their NES back in the day. It was a great co-op experience and was particularly popular with lady gamers. Opening with a classic example of bad gaming translations ("Now, it is beginning of a fantastic story!! Let's make a journey to the cave of monsters! Good luck!), players controlled two adorable dinosaur brothers as they blew bubbles, collected hundreds of items, and tried to save a fair maiden from the clutches of evil monsters. The action game classic Bubble Bobble returns as an Xbox Live Arcade game in Bubble Bobble Neo! Encase your enemies in bubbles with the bubble-spitting dragon Bub! Learn the various techniques of the game and clear all the rounds in multiple game modes, including offline co-op play.
