Sand Mining Call
People from the North coast villagers of Madang have written to the Justice Department and the Mineral resources Authority to allow for further warden's hearing in the communities in relation to the proposed sand mining project. Former Chief Justice, Sir Arnold Amet, who is representing the villages says the people's right to be heard has to be considered and that it would be wise for the government to allow for the consultation process to be extended. If allowed, the project by a Singaporean company stands to displace several villages along a 50 kilometer stretch of coastline.
