Freya Carter Poetry Anthology Fundraiser
Petticoat The rope of truth does not go far You may only roam the world you know Paper mines are scattered like rose petals Each lick of ink explosive We are in glass jars stacked on shelves Pricked holes on top to breathe Is it easier to wait for the sky to fall or take out the pins that hold it up? Wire cats sing until they don’t “Sing no more” says the fog And the phonograph sits silently, patiently, For the bull to find its horns. My anthology is called We are in Glass Jars, a line from Petticoat. I wrote that line with the image of people constantly on display, as if they were in a museum. I feel like many people are constantly scared of judgement and I want to reflect that in my writing. My name is Freya and I'm 15 years old. I've been involved in scouting for 9 years and I was selected to go on the World Scout Jamboree in North America this summer. In order to go, we must raise £160,000 and a portion of what we raise will help fund lower income countries to go. I enjoy writing poetry and decided that I wanted to create an anthology in order to raise funds for the jamboree. The book will be A5, containing at least 30 of my poems and will be soft bound with a spine. There will also be my original sketches accompanying some of the poems. All profits will be donated to the Oxfordshire Jamboree unit fund. To read more of my poetry, please visit my website. http://moryscarter.com/freya/ To pre-order my book, please go to http://www.termight.co.uk/barney.php?page=glass_jars.html
