This is a special interview for me, as unlike the others who will be in this series, I’ve known Rion for more than two decades. We first met at the National Book Foundation back in 1997, and have stayed in contact over the many years since then. I read Rion’s story, “[Infestation!]”, several months ago. The visceral imagery of the story stayed with me after the first reading; this being the premise of this interview series, because honestly, most information I get doesn’t stay with me. This story did me. So I reached out to Rion to see if he would like to sit down to do a short interview with me focused upon this story in-particular, and he graciously accepted. Beforehand, I asked that he prepare a short excerpt to read from the story. After that, I will ask him a few questions on the piece, his writing, as well as a few fun questions.
