Audiophile Junkie - Steve McCormack's Newest and Best Monoblock Amplifiers -Customer Review/Analysi
In this video, we do a zoom interview to update everyone on the status of my friend Doug's system. If you recall from previous videos, he purchased MBL 101e and needed new amplification and preamp. He traded in his Ayons and previously had a modified stereo amp by Steve McCormack (SMcAudio), but he decided to step things up and go for unique monoblocks. With a healthy budget, Steve was able to go wild and create what he claims is the best amplifiers he's created to-date. Doug validates this via his comparison to the McIntosh 501s he had previously (as well as Ayons)...neither of which are slouch amplifiers in the least. We discuss some reasons why these amps are special. We mainly focus on the transformer, but watch the video I did with Steve on my amps to learn more about other similar modifications under the hood that were implemented on Doug's too. These were formally DNA 1 stereo amps. His preamp is still to come, and it will be a unique offering similar to Steve's mega dollar preamp - the VRE-1 - so stay tuned.
