Blues Rock Guitar Tune / Lesson - Cranky
The blues rock guitar style evolved through the 60’s mainly in the U.K.. By combining the rhythm and blues feel and improvisational skills found in both blues and jazz with a classical harmonic background, a new style was born. This generation of British musicians (Clapton, Beck, Page etc.) brought the blues origins back to the US and along with their great American contemporaries (Bloomfield, Bishop etc.) regenerated rhythm and blues and rock’n’roll for another decade bringing the guitar out front as the dominant instrument of the 70’s rock and hard rock. Then heavy metal came along but that’s another story… Blues rock is really the stepping stone for every aspiring guitarist because it has its feet in the past and its head in the present and future. The guitar greats of the 50’s (T- Bone walker, B.B. King, Albert King etc.), the soul and funk brothers of the 60’s and 70’s (Steve Cropper, Nile Rodgers etc.) and the spike of Thin Lizzy and Rory Gallagher are essential for every guitarist worth his/her salt. These videos are a showcase of my endeavors as an aspiring blues rock or a rhythm and blues guitarist. I wanted the solos to be in some kind of song context because I really don’t like it when people just play and play out of context. What you play in the song is what it's all about. So, I wrote a few tunes which you can enjoy listening to them but also view them as demonstrations of the necessary skills such as vibrato, (in tune) bending, timing, phrasing, character and tone. You can find more about me and what I do here: http://masterbluesrockguitar.com/ You can listen to the whole track at: https://soundcloud.com/kostismusic Thank you for your time
