Railfanning Lower Bucks County: Notch 8 EMD's, rare Lash-ups, horn action and more
In early March 2011, I spent some time out trackside as usual. Aside from the normal Sautrday outing to Woodbourne, some random railfanning occurred too. On April 7, 2011, I ended up at Neshaminy Falls, PA for a little bit: 7:01 PM - The one and only move I got through Neshaminy Falls was SEPTA D9303 flying west with SEPTA's only ALP-44, 2308, in the lead. D9303 - West Trenton, NJ - Philadelphia, PA Deadhead SEPTA ALP-44 2308 SEPTA Comet I 2461 7:48 PM - We heard Q191-07 making their way down the Trenton Line, but since it heads onto NS via the Wood Connecting Track at Woodbourne, we made our way to a new location to get it. Q191-06 comes west by MP 14.0 on the Morrisville Line with CSX CW44AH 5116 and CSX CW44AH 557 for power. Q191 - South Kearney, NJ - Philadelphia, PA Intermodal CSX CW44AH 5116 CSX CW44AH 557 On April 9, it was time for Woodbourne! 10:16 AM - Starting the day off is CSX Q703-09 headed west with CSX SD60I 8759 going solo with a great RS3L horn. Q703 - Selkrik, NY - Richmond, VA Trash Loads CSX SD60I 8759 10:24 AM - CSX Q418-09 comes out of Woodbourne Yard for headroom with a junk lash-up. CSX CW44AH 5103 leads with CSX CW44AH 568 (a very unwelcome sight for me) trailing. 11:00 AM - CSX Q418-09 charges east out of Woodbourne Yard, with CSX Q190-09 coasting east off the Wood Connecting Track, coming to a stop to wait for SEPTA. Q190-09 is powered by CSX SD70AC 4709 (with no CSX upfront) and CSX ES40DC 5400, with a friendly engineer. SEPTA 3429 then comes west as Q418-09 ends, and Q190 then gets back on the move.
