Sacred Burma (SBI) is a breed of semi-long-haired cats of color-point color, which, according to one of the legends, originates from Burma. She should not be confused with the Burmese cat, which is a separate breed of short-haired cats. The Burmese cat is recognizable due to the unusual color, which after the name of the breed received the name Burmese color. For cats with this color is characterized by the presence of white "gloves" with a point color of long wool. The breed is also known under the name "Sacred Burmese cat" (although in English pronunciation of the name of the country - "Sacred Burmese"). The breed is recognized by all felinological organizations of the world. In Burma, there are several legends telling about the appearance of an unusual color in local cats. The most common of these legends tells us that initially one of the Buddhist temples was guarded by white long-haired cats with yellow eyes. In the temple there was a golden statue of a goddess with sapphire-blue eyes. The oldest monk in the temple, called Moon Ha, had a beautiful cat named Sinh. Once the temple was attacked by robbers who intended to steal a golden statue of a goddess. Defending the goddess, Moon Ha was mortally wounded and died from wounds at the feet of the goddess. It seemed that the defenders of the temple are defeated. But suddenly a strange cry stopped all around. Sinh stood on the head of his master, and a magical change occurred to him. His hair turned golden, his eyes turned sky-blue to the goddess’s eyes, and his paws, immersed in the white hair of a monk, turned white like his holy gray hair. Obeying the eyes of Sinha's sapphire eyes, the monks found the strength within themselves and drove the robbers away. The faithful cat remained for seven days without movement on the head of the gentleman, after which he died, raising the soul of Moon Ha to heaven. Over time, all the cats in the temple also received the same color. The Burmese cat is descended from a cross between Siamese and Persian cats, and possesses Persian hair and Siame paint. According to a common tradition, the Burmese breed first appeared in Europe around 1919, when one of the Vanderbilts, a famous family of American billionaires, during a cruise in Eastern countries acquired a pair of kittens, for which he gave a huge fortune. The male did not tolerate the journey, and the female produced offspring in Nice, in France. According to other data, the Burmese breed is the result of a selection project of French breeders. In 1925, the breed "Sacred Burma" was registered in the French Cat Register. For the first time Sacred Burma was presented at the exhibition of cats in 1926. In 1966, the breed was recognized in the UK, and in 1967 in the United States. If you liked the video, subscribe to the channel.
